» Assessments (9)We test valves and traps used to control the flow of steam, water, and other liquids and gasses common to power plants and other industrial plant environments. We focus our testing on cycle isolation valves and traps.
Turbine Cycle isolation valves and steam traps as those that are normally closed, and which, if leaking, will increase heat rate or reduce output, while at the same time increasing fuel costs. Loss impact depends on what is leaking, where the leak goes, and the severity of the leak.
Large, high-energy valves have greater loss potential than small valves at lower pressures and temperatures.
If the fuel cost or megawatt replacement cost is high virtually all cycle isolation valves and traps are economic to repair. The following systems contain cycle isolation valves and traps and are routinely tested by LDS.
• Hot Reheat Steam
• Cold Reheat Steam
• Turbine Drains
• Auxillary Steam
• Extraction Steam
• Gland Seal Steam
• Boiler Vents And Drains
• Feedwater
• Condensate
• Heater Drains
• Miscellaneous Drains
• Coal Mill Inerting Steam
• Soot Blowers
• Soot Blower Drains
