Most of us remember the good old days where “Good, Fast, Cheap – Pick Any Two” was considered conventional wisdom in business. Today, admittedly, is much different. Few, if any, customers are now willing to negotiate quality for price or pay significantly more for faster service. Additionally, most companies have come to realize that addressing quality, speed, and cost as related issues is much more effective than approaching them individually.
In the relentless search for improvements, two initiatives that have received widespread attention lately are Six Sigma, which focuses on consistent quality and Lean, which focuses on efficiency. Both of these methodologies are primarily designed to identify issues and provide improvement in a steady-state production environment. In other words, it is difficult to Lean a process that isn’t operational nor can statistical analysis be performed on a production line that cannot be run reliably.
Powered by Rx is the systematic methodology developed by us that directly addresses the issue of reliability. This methodology is an integrated implementation of four major areas:
ENVIRONMENT – A combination of senior leadership and operating environment.
RESOURCES – Focus Team leaders and Focus Teams to champion initiatives.
PROCESSES – How initiatives are determined and executed.
TOOLS / METRICS – Specific tools and metrics to measure and evaluate performance.
